Specialist Dementia Care Facility in Otterbourne Hill

Brendoncare has been granted planning approval for a state-of-the-art ‘Shared Care’ facility for older people with dementia. With expert staff, careful design and the judicious use of Assistive Technology, Brendoncare will effectively ‘share the care’ with the resident, family and carers, making it possible to live relatively independently for much longer without having to move.
The services
Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill will provide fully supported ‘Shared Care’ as well as specialist nursing care. It will comprise 35 two bedroom ‘Shared Care’ apartments and a 20 bed nursing centre.
An integral part of the care facility will be the themed services which promote normal living such as a restaurant, community room, library, lounges, recreation/fitness centre, hairdressing salon, shop and coffee shop, activities room, reminiscence room and sensory garden. Importantly, especially for the very frail, these facilities will be near at hand and 'older people friendly'.
The 20 bed nursing centre will provide continuing care to those suffering from dementia whose preference is for a more traditional ‘nursing home’ care service. The centre will also provide episodic (respite) care for those in the apartments if and when needed. It will additionally provide support and respite care for those in need from the local community by providing them with access to the facilities as well as a specialist advice service. It is planned to develop a dementia daycare service to afford local families occasional or regular respite.
Detailed design work is underway and it is hoped that the care facility will be completed in 2013. The apartments will be for sale on a 125 year lease.
